Springfield, Illinois, which is only a short hour drive to the South of Havana also features many historic Lincoln sites including Lincoln's Tomb, the Lincoln Herndon Law Office, Lincoln's Home, as well as the amazing Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and the Old State Capitol. If your adventure takes you North of Havana you can work your way to Peoria, Illinois and explore riverfront shopping, dining and the historic warehouse district, and you will want to visit the Peoria Riverfront Museum. This world class museum features changing displays and exhibits from around the world as well as the Dome Planetarium and the hugely popular Illinois River Encounter exhibit. Plan for several hours to explore the museum and take in all the local and natural history, art, exhibits, displays and their permanent collections.
