Regional Attractions

Wineries, boutiques, Native American history, rich natural resources, links to Lincoln and Illinois River Valley history

Havana's bridge will lead you to great nearby attractions within a few miles including Big Horse Vineyards, Native Trails Winery and the quaint seasonal Orchard Hill Apple Orchard.  You will also find rich Native American history and brand new hiking trails at the Dickson Mounds State Museum as well as amazing natural resources to explore at the Emiquon complex.

If you travel a short distance South of Havana you will encounter the beautiful Hill Prairie Winery as well as the Yellow Door Boutique in Oakford, Illinois and if you make your way a little farther south, you will discover  New Salem State Park where you can walk through the village and experience what life was like for Abraham Lincoln when he lived in our area.  Springfield, Illinois, which is only a short hour drive to the South of Havana also features many historic Lincoln sites including Lincoln's Tomb, the Lincoln Herndon Law Office, Lincoln's Home, as well as the amazing Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and the Old State Capitol.

If your adventure takes you North of Havana you can work your way to Peoria, Illinois and explore riverfront shopping, dining and the historic warehouse district, and you will want to visit the Peoria Riverfront Museum.  This world class museum features changing displays and exhibits from around the world as well as the Dome Planetarium and the hugely popular Illinois River Encounter exhibit.  Plan for several hours to explore the museum and take in all the local and natural history, art, exhibits, displays and their permanent collections.

Havana is a proud Gateway Community featured on the Illinois River Road Scenic Byway.  Many of today's travelers are interested in the journey, not simply the final destination, and driving the Byway is about getting off the beaten path and experiencing the communities that make the journey special.  Please visit our page on the Illinois River Road Scenic Byway website to plan a unique road trip including Havana!  www.illinoisriverroad.org
